While I'm working on v2c3 and finishing the website content, I'm also looking for new projects. I've found a few that I like, so I'm checking now that no one has it on their future projects list as well...if I were good at organizing websites and such, I would try to organize a future projects online database, but I'm not good enough at this to attempt it. For anyone who is good at such things and has the time, though, I think it's a great suggestion. Of course it can't cover everything, but it would be nice, I guess. Makes it easier for scanlators. XD

Anyhow, if you see anything worth looking at, email me and I'll take a look. No licensed projects, and preferrably not something that someone else is already doing (I'm not fast enough for competition; I'd rather start a series to get other scanlators' attention so that other people can do the project faster because I'm so slow).

Also, I'm starting a list down there of what I've found so far that I like. If you see these projects on someone else's future projects page (or if they're on your own future projects page), please inform me so that I can take it down. Otherwise, please don't take them without telling me...I don't have time to do them all, but that way I can at least know which ones I can work on.

For some of the titles, I don't know what the correct Japanese title is (I'm looking at Chinese scans, some of which don't have the Japanese in them at all), or perhaps the author translation is incorrect (I usually google...and whichever one comes up most...^^; ). So if you have suggestions, please tell me.

well, this is my finals week, so I don't have time to finish the chapter by the end of the month. For the person who commented, Fangli at Sacred Tear scanlated v2c1 of Max Lovely, and I think there's a link for it there. It's well done, and I figured I wouldn't redo it since I'm so slow at this anyway. XD I'm trying to finish the chapter by the end of the month, but we'll see how long that works...^^;

I also just realized that I accidentally named the pages wrong (a month later, yes, I know...this is because I'm trying to match the pages with the ones in the manga, and I just found out). I skip from 64 to 66, or something. You're not missing a page...I'm missing a few brain cells. XD So you can rename them if you want, though it's not a big deal.

First of all, as Argentsylph said in her comment (and as written in the projects section), Sacred Tear has done v2c1 of Max Lovely. And thank you for the suggestion on font size. ^_^

As for projects...I realized that I did not change the projects list to how it really should be. I've pretty much decided what I'll even consider working on anyhow, so if anyone didn't like the fact that there were licensed possible projects there, they aren't there anymore. I've been contacted about licensed manga and such, and it has prompted me to do things that I was going to do anyway.

As for other things that anonymous said he/she hates, i.e. "release a project that another group has listed on their future projects page or is currently doing," I've taken down all projects that are currently being done by other groups to my knowledge. The only reason I would do a project done by another group is because the manga has not been released for several months. It's completely understandable, because as a scanlator myself, I cannot work up to desirable speed, but I simply want to take into consideration working on a project that I like. I absolutely respect these groups and if I am told to stop by these groups, I probably will (unless they're going to release one chapter every three years or something unfair to fans like that, which probably won't happen). As for projects on other groups' future projects page, I stopped considering It's Love as soon as I realized that it was on another group's future projects page and that someone else was translating it. If any other projects are on other groups' future projects page, I do not know and the group members should contact me. I don't think I should be obligated to check the future projects page of every group that I know in order to put it in my own section. (I could disagree with myself, but then I'm a contradictory person.) If I do find out, or I am told by people of that group, then I will back down or see if a joint works (probably the former, according to my current schedule). Otherwise, if I am not informed, I won't have the knowledge to act upon it.

To be honest, my opinion on the ethics of scanlation itself and scanlation after licensing is very complex (sometimes it heavily depends on the situation...most of the time it doesn't). I was emailed this forum topic which I think covers the many different opinions (some I agree with, some I don't, but all in all it's good to read through opinions of different people). I hope that at least I'm not stupid enough to think that licensing companies don't keep a watch on the scanlation world. I'm not trying to make a statement with what I've done, if it seems like that. I'm just another fan that wants to share manga with other people. My work on MeruPuri is another issue, I know, but I've tried to stay out of the world of licensed manga, and I'll do my best to continue to do so. I know that I'm not the only person that is doing licensed manga (many respectable groups are, though ethically it shouldn't make a difference), and that's why most people continue doing it. According to multiple psychology tests, however, authority wins over ethics. (Usually authority tries to be on the side of ethics.)

I want to apologize for having to write in this way. It's difficult to explain my opinion (on the whole I've tried to avoid it). I think this is why I did translations rather than scanlations in the first place. XD Well, the final verdict? Translation Texts will not continue doing any more licensed projects. That's all I have to say, for now.

Max Lovely v2c2: Released!

Yeah! Max Lovely v2c2 is out. The link is on the side and in the projects section below. The password for Savefile is the same as always, but you can find it in the projects section. The main one is from Savefile and the two mirrors are from Sendspace and Rapidshare (as I said). I'll probably do it this way from now on (unless you can think of a method that is ultimately better; please tell me if so).

I don't think I'll get to work on v2c3 for at least another month. Well.

MeruPuri has 4 volumes total, for the person who asked. ^_^

I've been ignoring the polls for awhile now...I've pretty much decided that I'll be doing Toraware no Minoue and/or Visionary the Other Side (if I can get permission) if I have time, and I've basically set up how I'm going to share files (if it's not enough, I can add more).

On a random note...in this manga, people insult others by calling them "pig heads" (literally). If anyone knows of a more fitting translation, I'd be happy to use it. I have no problem with it at all...it's a tad amusing though. XD

I'm back. Tired, jet-lagged, but back, I guess...a few days ago, but I'm under a lot of pressure from other stuff so it took some time to, well, get some time.

Status Quo: I have about half of Max Lovely v2c2 finished, and if I am not able to finish the rest of it relatively soon, I'll put it up on photobucket temporarily and release the whole chapter.

About MeruPuri, I've said in an earlier post that I won't be doing it on my own anymore, but I'll be working with a team on higher-quality scanlations. I've been asked not to give any names, but be on the lookout for a release...hopefully it will be soon. =) I think I'll be able to redirect you once it has been released. I'm glad that you all like it, though. Rest assured, it will be completed. ^_^

As for Visionary the Other Side, I tried emailing CShoujo to ask for permission but I haven't heard back from them yet. It would probably be better to ask them on IRC, but since I don't have access, I don't know how. I don't have a lot of time right now anyhow, but when I do, I'll be sure to try asking them again.

It's still the same site, just a slightly easier name (cjb is easier than blogspot...? I don't know, but a lot of scanlation sites use cjb). I'm too HTML-dumb to create a proper website. At least I can get it a slightly more normal name, right? XD

The problem with this, however, I have just discovered, is that, due to blogspot's weird "you must refresh the page to see updates" thing, refreshing the CJB address won't actually refresh the page, you have to go to the blogspot site and refresh that page, which is just unnecessary hassle. Well. Maybe I'll put the CJB link to other use...CJB supposedly hosts stuff, I don't know if you can download zip files from it..? Hm.

Here is a preview. That's really the only thing I was able to do. Have to work on other projects now. >__<; Polls are up! My next project will probably be MAX Lovely! then. ^___^ It's a little bit useless to have a poll now, seeing that it'll take forever for me to finish this if I can, but oh well, there it is. By the way, do visit OtakuTranslations...they have lots of raws. Heaven for people who can't use IRC because of firewalls...like me. ^___^ They have a Y!Group as well.

As of file uploaders...you all did realize that Megashares isn't Megaupload, right...? I do dislike Megaupload like most people. ^^; And since I haven't been able to get Rapidupload to work, I won't be able to use it. I would've used it otherwise. >___<; It'll probably be uploaded on at least two of them anyway (i.e. Rapidshare & Savefile, or such).

Er...I put up the other file suggestions, but didn't put up the other manga suggestions...since I didn't receive any files. Why are my posts always shifting around?

Well, I could delete my old, semi-useless posts, but instead I've simply re-posted the older posts so that they'll remain on the main page. Blogspot is kind of inconvenient for that. I suppose I could always link back to it, but it seems like a hassle to go through.

I decided to be nice (I'm in a happy mood, even as I'm really tired and really annoyed...does that make sense? lol) so I uploaded v04c019 on Rapidshare here as well. If 4 mirrors aren't enough then I don't know what is. Actually, it's good to let me know what works and what doesn't, though, so tell me what servers work well and what doesn't so that I know what to upload on next time. ^__^

(The Sendspace link is down, by the way. Fixing the server, or something. Well there's plenty of mirrors ^__^;)

I put the chapter up on Yousendit here, but I think it stays up only for a limited amount of time. 7 days, or a limited # of downloads. Well, Yousendit is still easier for me. Get it quickly. =P If I have time I'll put it on something else, but note that you're allowed to reupload the file and distribute on your own if you'd like as long as you include proper credit and such. I know Yousendit is meant more for 1-to-1 sending, but...still.

I don't want to use Savefile because 1) it stays up for a limited amount of time if inactive, and i don't want to have to download it every 14 days just to make sure (Yousendit is limited too, but it's still easier to deal with because it deletes itself automatically after some number of days and doesn't depend on activity), 2) it's slow for me (not the slowest, but still), 3) I dislike the layout (this might just be prejudice), 4) you have to click multiple times to get to it (like with most of them though), and 5) I hate the advertising. The pop-ups aren't killed by my browser and are extremely annoying. I don't want to deal with stuff like that. Most other uploaders I know only use text ads, which are much easier to ignore. (sorry advertisers.)

Er...yeah. I'm kind of tired. I've had a rough week, even though I've been on break, so I'm not really in the mood to do any work. But yeah. I think Yousendit works even if it has limited time/downloads. So that will work for now, at least (hopefully).

Thus, my independent project is still undecided. I won't have time to work on it for awhile anyway (the only reason I was able to release MeruPuri was because I had a week-long break that is ending soon) so hopefully the voting results will be slightly clearer.

For those who don't like Rapidshare or reading long posts, I uploaded the file on endspace and it's here or in the sidebar/below or in the projects section.

To be absolutely honest, I don't really like Rapidshare because 1) you have to click, wait, and type a code before you can get the file, 2) it doesn't allow you to download more than a certain amount for some amount of time, and 3) I just don't? (I wouldn't be good at formal debate.) Most people don't like it either. Rapidupload, which I had wanted to use, doesn't seem to work for me. I tried using it on Internet Explorer rather than Firefox (which I usually use) but it didn't seem to change anything. Thus, in my rush for time, I used rapidshare. Now that I have some extra time I have uploaded it onto Sendspace, which is better, I hope.

On a side note, my files seem unusually large...maybe it is typical for such a chapter to be 14MB? (Doesn't seem like that to me.) I think the fact that I'm using the interlacing option, which isn't exactly necessary, is making it larger, but it doesn't seem like it would account for being perhaps twice the normal size (though it does range, depending). Maybe it does.

Back to the subject, it would be helpful if anyone could comment in words on what the best uploader is...since the poll is slightly limited (I could list 20, but then not everyone would know all of them and such). I'm almost definitely sure that I won't use Megaupload, because of the advertising, speed, etc., and since Megashares is going in that direction I'm probably not going to use it either. (It was nice in the beginning...what happened? XD) But feedback is very helpful. Yeah. ^_^

In my old credits page I mentioned that I don't know who scanned it...while looking at the next chapter, I've seen on the pages that it says "scan by adad." After that, however, there's no contact information, so I can't check whether adad minds that I'm using his/her scans. If you are adad or know adad, please tell me so that I can ask whether I have permission to use the scans.

Well, after releasing MeruPuri v4c18, there is c19, 20, 21, omake1, final chapter, then omake2. (At least I think they are omake...they're 3 pages or so long, I don't know if they should be extras/sidestories/what.) So at my current rate of work (and considering that I've pushed aside some stuff for this) this is going to take at least until June, so maybe it's useless to do a poll right now (a free and unregistered one too, so I have no idea how long it will last...if you know of a good free poll service to recommend, please do so).

I've listed a bunch of projects of which I should have access to the raws and that I don't mind working on. I'd obviously rather work on the more probable ones (which is why they're more probable) but if there are enough votes for other projects, I might try them. Note, however, that I've offered to do scanlations for my probable projects, but not for all of my improbable projects. (S = Scanlation, T = Translation.) Vote for what you want to see.

(A note on Global Garden...as long as ShoujoMagic is still doing it, I'm not going to actively do it because it would just waste my time, but if they do discontinue due to licensing, I'll do it if the votes are high enough, so feel free to vote for it anyway. It's best if ShoujoMagic does it, because they're probably faster than I am.)

As for file download stuff, I put a few of them with which I'm fairly familiar. I don't know which ones are better/best, but I'll probably upload to multiple places next time since some of them are down at times, slower, or...something. Otherwise I'll just upload it on some random one...and you can hope you'll be lucky, or something. And if you vote for "other" please comment/email me so that I'll know what it is. Or I'll just be stuck looking for some other uploader. XD

I figure I should say this sometime...I'm really not trying to steal anyone's project. Most of the scanlations/translations I do are for projects that have been discontinued or not released for a long time. If someone with authority over the project asks me to stop and does release the manga at a fair pace (at least a few chapters a year, or something), then I'll stop my project. I'm really not trying to steal anyone's project or take someone else's work; I'm just an ordinary manga fan, and I'd like other people to be able to read manga that I can read too. So...yeah. If anyone has ethical concerns you can email me and I'll consider what you say. I don't want to seem unfair or anything.

I hope that I'll finish the next chapter soon, I'm getting faster as I work. Even though it's LQ, I hope people will be okay with it too.

New Location for Translation Texts!!!

Welcome to our new location!!!

The reasons why I have a preference for blogspot over xanga, at least for now:

1. Blogspot allows comments from anonymous people (you can change this in the settings). You do not have to be a registered blogspot user in order to comment, thus it is easier for me to receive feedback.
2. The general format for writing posts is simpler for me.
3. There's more that you can change in the layout. Though, yes, I'm terrible at HTML stuff, at least it's a possibility, whereas I don't think it is so with xanga.

One problem I have noted with blogspot, however, is that you have to refresh the page for updates, so take note of that.

For those who prefer xanga, I will probably continue posting updates there too.
